A born and bred Newfoundlander, Grace Smith moved to Toronto in 2011 to further her dance training at York University, receiving her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography. Since moving to Toronto, she has had the pleasure of performing with Jasmyn Fyffein Pulse (Montreal Fringe Festival/Wave Rising Series in New York), with Liisa Smiht in 60X60 Dance Toronto, and has stage-managed Kojira, produced by Random Acts of Dance. Gracie’s choreography has been shown at various York Univesity showings, her self-produced show We Exist and most recently in Fresh Blood, presented by The Chimera Project. Gracie’s newest work, Our Place in the Wasteland, will be shown in the upcoming Mezzotint: A Mixed Program presented by Cassandra Wiesner (The Beehive Collective).
Gracie is currently working in a choreography-based mentorship with Maxine Heppner through the Canadian Senior Artists Resources Network, as an intern at The Dance Current – Canada’s Dance Magazine, and as a dance teacher/administrator at Tandem Studios in Toronto.
